Smashed Potatoes

Yes, you can make smashed potatoes without an air fryer! The air fryer results in wonderfully crispy edges on all surfaces of the potatoes, but you can get very similar results using an oven, especially with a convection bake setting. Follow this recipe for our tested temperatures and timings.

Ingredients :

  • 1-1/2 pounds small yukon gold potatoes
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley

Directions

  1. Place potatoes in a large saucepan; add water to cover. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cook, uncovered, until tender, 12-15 minutes. Drain; let cool 5 minutes.
  2. Preheat air fryer to 400°. Transfer potatoes to a cutting board or baking sheet. Using the bottom of a glass or a potato masher, flatten potatoes to 1/2-in. thickness.
  3. Toss potatoes with olive oil, salt, garlic powder and pepper. Transfer to greased air fryer basket. Cook until golden brown, 15-20 minutes. Garnish with parsley.
